Each day guests and crew consume foods and beverages packaged and served in cardboard, paper, plastic, glass and aluminum.

Commencing 2018 we have large recycling bins on each vessel which are filled each day with these items. During the cruise duration of each voyage, the crew ensures that no recyclable items enter the general rubbish collection.

At the end of each cruise, the recycled items are collected by a contractor and taken to their depot at each port.

Based on per KG weight of these items, Irrawaddy Voyages receives a payment from the recyclers. These funds are then deposited into our ‘From The Roots Up Campaign’ whereby guests are invited to plant a tree sapling within the grounds of select local villages, during one or more scheduled shore excursions.
